Lord, there is so much going on. Your Word is true, and nothing is happening that You haven’t already known about and for which You haven’t planned. I heard this song in my head before I went to bed, as I was turning off the computer; but since I was trying to go to sleep, that’s what I did. About 2 hours later, I’m up, working on this blog entry, listening to this song on the computer, reading the lyrics, thinking of Scripture. Guess this is my time to meditate on His Word in the night watches:

Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.

Recently, I was introduced to an online game, Bejeweled 2. The screen displays many different “jewels” and to play, you are to “Swap adjacent pieces to make horizontal or vertical chains of three or more identical gems.” You are given points for the matches, and the matching gems disappear as others fall from the top to fill in the gaps.

I was thinking about how God has made us His gems, His jewels, His peculiar / special treasure / people – as we are accepted in the Beloved, we are “bejeweled!”

Not too long ago, I found myself telling a young woman at a store how much God loves her, how special she is to Him, how treasured – so much so that He sent His Son to make sure she could be with Him throughout eternity.

Later, I was also thinking about God’s directives for us to fellowship, to be close (like the chains of gems in the game.)

Although there are different versions of the game available (I do play online for free), there is one I especially like. The colors and shapes are more appealing to me, and I like the special visual effects. Since I’m attending different churches now, this seems somewhat of a parallel – different churches, different game versions, doing the basic things similarly. But I’m not trying to find the one I like best as much as the one I think I’m supposed to attend. I think I might know, but haven’t quite gotten there yet…

I really have to be careful and monitor my time playing the game as I can easily lose track of time while doing so. I have to question if it is the best use of my time (usually, NOT.) My Lord, though, in His great mercy and grace has been giving me lessons as I play, mostly about the aspects of my personality that still have to be adjusted to be Christ-like.

Don’t Say That (#1)

Too often, I find myself about to repeat things that I’ve heard from others without really thinking myself about the truth in / of the saying. In His mercy, my Lord has brought correction in letting me know that there are certain things that are said by others that I am not to say, think, or even (out of some sense of politeness) agree with.

The first was “The devil is busy.” Someone said this to me a few years back in speaking of some undesirable thing that had happened to them, when God let me know that He is busier; He is the Alpha and the Omega, the Almighty.

God created the devil, so no matter how busy he is doing what he was created / is allowed to do, God’s purposes will always triumph!

I am so grateful for the way that God does such different, better things for me through the things I think I’m choosing to do.

I was thinking about this year’s season of the show “Sunday Best” on BET (which I’ve watched on the internet since I don’t have cable.) I was on the computer, typing up some thoughts I had for a blog entry (another one, that I’ll have to finish another day), and I thought about and wanted to hear the “original song” that was sung on the last show by the winner, Leandria Johnson, after the results were announced. I went to youtube instead of the BET website so I could more easily hear just that one song. Not seeing it listed, I just intended to play another video first while I typed, where Leandria sang the Commissioned song, Running Back To You…and I’m playing it still, and writing this for the blog.

The first time I heard this song was when a young man sang it a few years ago at the church I was attending during an “illustrated sermon.” Having some idea of a few of the things going on with this young man at the time, I was moved by the song, praying that the words were real for him, that he was indeed "running back" to God.

Now, God, through this song, is drawing me so much closer to Himself, creating more of a desire in me for Him, to be closer and closer. I must admit that the anointing that is on the young woman who is singing the song, and on the song itself really connects with my spirit…

"You love me still, and I know this is real"

Thank You, God, for Your love, Your mercy that draws us, draws me, then accepts us, accepts me. Thank You for Your sacrifice that makes us, makes me personally accepted into the Beloved. Thank You, Lord, for allowing me to receive such love from You, that I would even want to give it back to You, to share it with You. Thank You … thank You…thank You…

Okay – God really wants to make sure I get a clear understanding of His Father’s Day lesson for me. In His lovingkindness and His tender mercy, He has repeated the lesson from yesterday on today.

At church yesterday, much of the sermon concerned Jesus’ call to His disciples to,”Follow Me.” Matthew 4:18-23 was a foundational text. Today, one of my devotionals (Hope for Each Day: Words of Wisdom and Faith by Billy Graham) said, in part:

Discipleship is always costly. No, it may not cost us our lives. But it will cost us. It will cost us our plans, our wills, our selfish desires. Jesus’ standard has not changed: “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me.” (Matthew 16:24, NKJV) Instead of controlling our lives, we turn them over to Christ as Lord.

Someone has said, “Salvation is free but not cheap.” It cost Jesus His life, and it will cost us as well. But could anything be greater? Could anything be more fulfilling?

Follow Christ, and at life’s end you will be able to say, “No regrets.”
