Ok, I’m going to try with the help of my Lord to do
something else – at least for a season. The
plan, I think, is to blog something from my devotional time. Just one thing. At least during this Lenten season.
So for today, just want to say first of all that the timing
of doing this - this morning - was not my
idea, not in my plans. I had other
things I thought I was going to be doing.
I was going to read my devotional material while doing the other
things. Not so, it seems.
OK. … here goes …
Reading the Daily Guideposts devotional for today, something
the author (Julia Attaway) said stood out to me:
“…I thought of all the things that needed to go up in flames
to reach repentance: pride, the desire for control, yearning for the admiration
of the world, self-indulgence, selfishness … the list went on and on.”
Deuteronomy 4:24 (KJV)
For the Lord
thy God is a consuming fire, even a jealous God.
Daniel 9:3 (KJV)
And I set my face unto the Lord God, to
seek by prayer and supplications, with fasting, and sackcloth, and ashes:
I’m reading Crazy Love by Francis Chan. Just finished the chapter on being
lukewarm. Ouch…
Revelation 3:14-22 (KJV)
14 And
unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write; These things saith the
Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God;
15 I
know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or
hot.
16 So
then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out
of my mouth.
17 Because
thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and
knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:
18 I
counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and
white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness
do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see.
19 As
many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.
20 Behold,
I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I
will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.
21 To
him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also
overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.
22 He
that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.
I’m also in a Bible Study, and last week’s lesson was on
humility. So I’ve already been thinking
of some of these things.
Galatians 4:18-20 (KJV)
18 But
it is good to be zealously affected always in a good thing, and not only when I
am present with you.
19 My
little children, of whom I travail in birth again until Christ be formed in you,
20 I desire to be
present with you now, and to change my voice; for I stand in doubt of you.
Matthew 11:29 (KJV)
Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek
and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
Romans 8:29 (KJV)
For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be
conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn
among many brethren.
Thank You, LORD, for Your plans and
purposes, to give You glory, that transform me for the better.
… and my journey with Him continues …
